of the Future

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – September 19, 2006 – Motorola,
Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today opened the 7,000 sq ft Motorola Innovation
Center at its Schaumburg global headquarters. The Center showcases
the breadth of technology solutions that are currently or will be
applied globally by individuals, companies and governments into the
future. Visitors can view and handle future and present Motorola
innovations in a laboratory setting and a simulated retail concept.
“The Motorola Innovation Center offers a unique glimpse into the
future of mobile communication,” said Motorola chairman and CEO Ed
Zander. “The center shows that Seamless Mobility is here now...and
is being re-invented every day by the innovative team at Motorola.”
Motorola’s long record of innovation, ranging from the company’s
pioneer work with car radios and public safety networks to
technology that carried the first words from the moon, is showcased
in the Heritage Corridor en route to entry into the center. Linking
the past to the future, Motorola has increased investment in
research and development (R&D) each of the past two years which
fuels support for the innovations on display.
Working Life, Family Life, Saving Life, Enriching Life and Improving
Life headline five 30-foot diameter environments which use multiple
video projection screens, devices and garments to tell compelling
stories about the ways that Motorola endeavors to change life with
innovation.
Viewing license plate identification in action, practicing
push-to-view mobile phone technology, or seeing how affordable
broadband access helps educate young Macedonians are just a few of
the featured experiences in the life-themed environments. A full
collection of wickedly cool mobile devices are available to test at
Motorola’s innovative retail experience.
Motorola anticipates that visitors will mainly consist of
